Bijan Sarhangpour: Fencing Academy Opening Ceremony

Bijan Sarhangpour recently attended the opening ceremony of the Rouzbeh Sarhangpour Fencing Academy—a world-class, Isfahan-based sporting facility that provides young people across the region access to recreation, competition, and thrill of fencing.

A former fencing competitor who competed at numerous national and international competitions throughout his youth, Bijan Sarhangpour was proud to witness the facility’s official opening—an event and naming ceremony that honors the legacy of his late son, Rouzbeh, who passed away in 2016.

Making a Difference for the Isfahan Community

Opened in March 2018, the Rouzbeh Sarhangpour Fencing Academy provides disadvantaged young people throughout the region access to quality recreational and competitive opportunities.

This includes access to fencing coaching, training, education and encouragement—programs they might not otherwise be available to those without adequate financial means.

Bijan Sarhangpour supports the local community primarily through the funding and sponsorship of new fencing opportunities. This includes the all-new Rouzbeh Sarhangpour Fencing Academy—a fencing facility designed not only to host national and international fencing competitions but also to provide local disadvantaged youth’s access to quality fencing education, training, and competition opportunities.

Bijan Sarhangpour was a longtime talent in the sport of fencing—having competed in numerous international fencing events throughout his young sporting career.

Currently the Director of Baku Oil Services (BOS), Bijan Sarhangpour now enjoys the opportunity to give back to the sport, and to the local community, through the recently completed Rouzbeh Sarhangpour Fencing Academy—an all-new fencing facility that bears the name and continues the legacy of his recently-deceased son, Rouzbeh.

Offering Opportunities to Local Youth

Officially opened in March 2018, the Rouzbeh Sarhangpour Fencing Academy resulted from a partnership between Bijan and the Fencing Board of Isfahan; an agreement that has led to:

• A world-class fencing facility that offers fencing opportunities to in-need youths throughout the local area.
• Access to education, coaching, and training for local youths interested in fencing opportunities.
• A facility capable of accommodating national and international fencing competitions.
